Day 2 in China

Today we started driving up the winding mountain roads that lead to the panda center and our motel!

Once we arrived at the motel all of us were given a room, picked a room mate, and had an hour to unpack before we went to the panda grounds. My roommate’s name was Nina and she was Russian-American.

Once we were all unpacked and ready to go, as a group we walked to the panda grounds. pandiThe panda grounds is a conservation that tourists can pay to see pandas and people can pay to volunteer with pandas. There are 2 parts to the grounds which are, “White Bear” which is full of Chinese native pandas and the “Overseas” which is full of pandas from around the world.

Overall there were 13 teens in the group including me, so the group was divided in half so there would be enough volunteers for both of the grounds.

When we arrived on the grounds we received our volunteer panda suits, gloves, badges, and were assigned sections at different panda centers and split the entire group into 2 groups.

After we left the panda center, we walked back to the motel, ate dinner, played fun ice breaker games, and we went to bed. I went to sleep ready to begin working with the pandas!
